Did you know that you can make sweet and sour low FODMAP spareribs at home? No need to go to the local Chinese restaurant - AND these are low FODMAP, which cannot be easily found when dining out. And the secret ingredient is - drum roll please - KETCHUP! That’s right, Fody's Low FODMAP Ketchup works its magic and helps create a tangy, sweet and sour sticky glaze. The Fody Low FODMAP Steak Seasoning adds depth of flavor.
I give you options for finishing off this low FODMAP recipe outdoors on the grill, or inside under the broiler.
Bring a large pot of water to a boil over high heat. Add ribs, adjust heat and simmer for 15 minutes. Drain well.
Meanwhile, whisk together the Fody Low FODMAP Ketchup, vinegar, brown sugar, sugar, wine, soy sauce, cornstarch and Fody Low FODMAP Steak Seasoning in a saucepan until smooth and heat over low-medium heat until it simmers, then simmer for about 1 to 2 minutes or until thickened and glossy. Set aside.
If grilling outdoors, prepare a medium hot grill, either propane or hardwood charcoal. Brush your clean grill grates with a little neutral vegetable oil. If cooking indoors, adjust your oven rack about 6-inches (15 cm) from the broiler and preheat your broiler to high and arrange a rack over a rimmed baking sheet pan.
Slather the ribs with the sauce and either grill or broil until cooked through and lightly charred on the outside. Turn the ribs several times and keep basting with sauce during cooking, which will take about 20 minutes total. Serve immediately.
